It’s no secret that I love a good high street store – I mean, my flat is essentially an Ikea showroom! No shame. Now, I know I’m not alone on this one and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But sometimes it means that smaller businesses get over looked.
Since catching the ‘Insta bug’ I’ve come across so many amazing stores that have basically transformed my life (and my home!) It’s safe to say that lately I’ve been completely spoilt for choice for places to shop. There are thousands of small businesses on Instagram and I love nothing more than finding an absolute gem of a store and filling my home with beautifully unique treasures.
One of my best friends asked me recently to do a post on my favourite homeware stores and I couldn’t think of anything better than raving about all the small businesses that I love. Some of which you may have heard of already – but if not, please check out their pages and websites. I promise you will be onto a winner!
So here are 10 of my favourites:
Mia Fleur is a family business, run by Jacqui and her two daughters, Amelia and Hollie. I was lucky enough to win a copy of Dream Decor by Bright Bazaar in one of their amazing competitions recently, which I love! (Thanks again girls!)
They honestly are one of those shops where you want EVERYTHING. The site is full of beautifully styled vignettes which leave you full of inspiration. Here is a selection of some of my favourite things from their website:
I have had my heart set on this chopping board since way before Christmas but unfortunately money hasn’t been my biggest friend. Although – writing this post has only confirmed to me that I need it in my life. It’s just so pretty!
Whether you are an avid homeware buyer or a lover of a dust collector or two, then you absolutely need to check them out – you will not be disappointed.

Freddie The Kid
Less than a year ago I came across Freddie The Kid on Instagram, a store created by the beautiful Lauren. It’s honestly so amazing to see how far this wonderful shop has come in such a short space of time – how much it’s grown and evolved during that time.
The first purchase I made from Freddie The Kid was a wooden plaque which says “You’re Alright” on it – a present for the side piece that I bought for Christmas. This sits proudly on our cabinet and has had so many compliments! From that moment I knew I’d struck gold with this one.
If you follow my Instagram you will have probably gathered already that I am one of this store’s biggest fans. Lauren is so kind, patient and amazingly creative that you can give her the most ridiculously confusing brief (sorry!) and she will work wonders to create something amazing. She is always adding great pieces to her Etsy shop and if you’re on the look out for a custom piece – look no further. I know that if I ever have an idea for a print, there’s no where else I’d go. AND – not only do they have their amazing prints but they also do some great Scandi inspired garlands too!

A few of my friends have placed their orders and have been completely converted too, so please take a look at their store or their Instagram.
The Little House Shop
The Little House Shop was the first small business I found and followed on Instagram, which is run by the lovely Jenny. The first thing I fell in love with was the Carnival Lights and desperately wanted one for my new home. Christmas came and there sat my beautiful new addition (points to the side piece!) and I couldn’t wait to find the perfect place for it.
My love didn’t stop there – it was through The Little House Shop that I discovered the extremely popular House Doctor Calendar, which sadly was out of stock for a while. BUT good news – it’s back and on their site now!
In fact – this store made me fall in love with House Doctor full stop. Their Christmas decorations are also so amazing that I simply cannot wait to see what stock will be in this year!
Here are a few of my favourites:
(Pssst… Guess what? They’re on Instagram too!)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – there is no better sheepskin than a Cowboy Kate critter and I’m absolutely desperate to get my hands on one!
As I mentioned in my Bedroom Wish List post – what could be a better addition to your home than one of these beauties? They’re stunningly unique, rare and one of a kind – you won’t find two the same.
After missing out on the sheepie of my dreams, I have my heart set on finding another black and white Icelandic one like this:
I’ve realised that it is practically impossible to settle for just the one. If these lovelies don’t set your heart on fire, I don’t know what will!
Not only does Kate regularly update her website with her latest critter finds, she also occasionally has a few gems on her Instagram too. (Plus her home is AMAZING, she’s stylish and downright lovely)
When I first moved into the flat I felt like I needed to find a style I liked and then stick to it. I’ve realised that creating a home is all about filling it with things that you love and your style will shine through.
I found East Unique earlier this year after seeing they had launched a competition to win one of their amazing Moroccan Pouffes. Ever since that day I have had my eye on one, but I just can’t settle on a colour! I mean how can you? I’ve narrowed it down to tan, nude or white, but which?
Also – these rugs… there are no words!

I came across Southwood Stores earlier this year, which is run by the lovely Hayley. The Southwood Stores showroom is beautifully styled and whenever any photos are uploaded to their Instagram it always leaves me wanting everything in sight.
This is where I purchased my beloved House Doctor calendar from (which I mentioned earlier.) Also – take a look at these:
I have wanted a chopping board like this for months and after finding one in TK Maxx for a bargain price I couldn’t believe my luck! After less than a week of having it, (and having never used it) the wood bent and the marble shattered into tiny pieces. I was left distraught. At least I was – until I came across this beauty! Happiness has been restored.
Make sure you check out their Instagram too!
My Little Echo
I’m in love with Australian interiors. I love their style, I love how everyone I follow on Instagram from Australia are massive advocates for small businesses – I basically just couldn’t be anymore in love!
Last year I found My Little Echo, which is run by Katherine, and I was hooked straight away! I had never seen anything like it before. I was drawn to their knot cushions and desperately tried to track down something similar that was sold in the UK, with no luck.
When it came to my birthday I decided to bite the bullet – I couldn’t hold back any longer. I needed one of their cushions in my life! Then came the tough part… what colour? I couldn’t decide between grey and white, so what to do when you can’t choose? Buy both!
The customs charge stung, I won’t lie! But I am the proud owner of two beautiful knot cushions – one from my parents and one to me, from me.
Here are a few of my favourite photos from their Instagram:
Following on with my love for Australian homeware – introducing Zilvi.
I came across Zilvi from one of my favourite instagram accounts, @misskyreeloves. Kyree’s house is possibly my ultimate dream and is always styled perfectly. I’ve followed her for a while now and love how honest she is and she is always willing to answer any questions that people ask.
It was on Kyree’s page that I spotted and fell for this pretty wooden Monstera leaf. And look at this cute fern too!
Violet and Thistle
Meet Violet and Thistle, which is owned by Jane.
I came across this store recently thanks to a few of the accounts that I follow and I already have my eye on a few bits. I’ve established that I have this thing with wood and marble chopping boards… actually just pretty chopping boards in general. Look at these lovely bits I found on their site:
Make sure to check out their Instagram too!
If anyone ever asks me for any Instagram accounts that I would recommend following- Createaholic is definitely one of them!
Fanny Zedenius, also known as Createaholic, is a macramé genius. I can’t remember how I came across her page, but I was instantly amazed by her work – it really is something else! I mean, imagine being able to make these, let alone being THIS good?! She really is amazingly talented. I’m desperate to find a place for one in my home – problem is they’re all just too much – I don’t know how I could ever choose!
Here are a few of my favourites:
Make sure you check out the Createaholic website too!
